A universal spindle adapter enables machine operators to process new orders as efficiently as possible by minimising set-ups and changeover times. according to Erowa.
The company described the operation: The Erowa PM chuck is integrated into the machine spindle and is opened pneumatically. The three-jawed chuck mounted on an Erowa system carrier is inserted and ready in a few steps. Both run-out and concentricity are repeated with an accuracy of 0.002 mm, the company said. When the three-jawed chuck is no longer needed, the base chuck is opened and the chuck is removed.
For the next job, for example, a special fixture or a palletised Erowa ITS chuck is inserted. The contour of the pallet completely seals the spindle. The inserted chuck is now ready for clamping and positioning with 0.002 mm precision, the company said.
